Bainbridge Island is a sophisticated suburban and rural community located just a half-hour ferry ride from downtown Seattle. This vibrant, diverse community, is rich in history, culture, and natural beauty. The island enjoys a wonderful combination of farms, wineries, hiking trails, scenic vistas, and local arts. The town center, known as Winslow, offers great shops, galleries, and restaurants. Islanders value the sense of country living and quick access to Seattle's business and cultural resources. Island residents are typically committed to preserving the sense of community and green spaces - agricultural land, forests, parks, and trails. The island features stately firs and cedars, scenic bays dotted with small boats, and views of the snow-capped Olympic Mountains to the west and majestic Mount Rainier to the east. Bainbridge Island is about the size of Manhattan Island- taking up 17,778 acres- while holding just a fraction of the number of residents with its approximately 23,000. The island is 10 miles from the northern to southern tips and 4 miles from east to west.  Bainbridge has everything from condos and townhomes to suburban-feeling cul-de-sac neighborhoods as well as stunning waterfront homes. The island also offers homes on acreage, some half an acre and some as large as ten or more acres.  Often referred to as the Nantucket of the Pacific Northwest, the island offers some of the best schools in the state and has received numerous national awards as one of the country’s best places to live.
