Capitol Hill

Home to many of the city’s most historic and architecturally impressive homes.

Welcome to Capitol Hill

Capitol Hill is home to many of the city’s most historic and architecturally impressive homes, many designed and built in the early 1900s. Capitol Hill boasts an incredibly strong sense of neighborhood and community. Many of the homeowners who have purchased the old “Seattle Boxes” as some of the architecture is called, have restored them to their original grandeur while adding modern appliances, fixtures, and lighting reflecting a style of yesteryear. North Capitol Hill is noted as one of the city’s best places for Halloween trick or treating with some homes greeting over a thousand trick-or-treaters each year! The neighborhood's décor and displays at Halloween and the holidays are some of the most impressive in any city.

Volunteer Park, between 15th and Federal on North Capitol Hill, includes a play area, a conservatory, a 108-step brick water tower with one of the best views of the city and region, and the Seattle Asian Art Museum. Capitol Hill is also home to some of Seattle’s best restaurants.
